Terms of service
These terms govern access to Tuto as a paid early-access backup product.
Last updated: 2026-04-22
Contracting party
These terms are between you and Tuto Ltd (in foundation).
Service scope
Tuto is a security-first computer backup service for personal computers. The beta scope is currently macOS-first and single-user.
The product is intended to provide encrypted backup, restore tooling, and related account management features. It is not promised as universal bare-metal imaging unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Accounts and security
- You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
- You are responsible for storing your recovery material safely when the product requires it.
- If you lose the recovery material required by the product, restore may be impossible.
- You must not attempt to access, interfere with, or test the service in ways that exceed authorized use.
Plans, payment, and fair use
Pricing, billing interval, taxes, and fair-use limits are shown in-product or on the pricing page at the time of purchase.
Early access is currently positioned around per-device pricing with fair use up to 5 TB unless changed explicitly in the product.
If billing is activated, subscription payments and payment-method management are handled through Stripe-hosted billing flows.
Beta conditions
- The service may evolve quickly during beta.
- Features, retention, restore flows, and integrations may change before general availability.
- We may suspend or limit access to protect the service, other users, or ongoing incident response.
Backups, restores, and limitations
You remain responsible for checking that backups complete and for validating restores that matter to you.
Tuto does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and no backup system should be your only operational control for critical data.
Where the product uses customer-managed recovery material, Tuto Ltd (in foundation) may be technically unable to restore data if that material is lost.
Termination and offboarding
You may stop using the service and request deletion according to the available account-management flows.
We may suspend or terminate accounts for abuse, fraud, security risk, unpaid balances, or violations of these terms.
Liability and governing law
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tuto Ltd (in foundation) is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of the beta service.
These terms are governed by the laws of Germany, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
